Vietnam’s FPT invests $10 million in submarine cable project

VietnamNikkei — HO CHI MINH CITY — Vietnam’s leading IT group FPT revealed it has made a $10 million investment in the Asia-Pacific Gateway submarine cable project, which is scheduled to be operational this year.  The underwater cable communication network will connect countries in the region including Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand.

Internet in Vietnam to slow down this weekend as cable undergoes maintenance

Vietnamese telecoms firm looks to make Myanmar a ‘second homeland’ after receiving first licence

FPT Group gets licence in Myanmar

Vietnam has 29 million 3G subscribers

ISPs ensure Internet connectivity as AAG undergoes maintenance

VietnamThe announcement has come at a time when Asia-America Gateway (AAG), the submarine cable that is utilised the maximum, is undergoing maintenance work and repair till June 17. FPT Telecom Company said it had laid cables over land and had increased its international Internet capacity to 50Gbps to reduce the impact of AAG to the minimum. In the past few months, FPT has continuously expanded its international bandwidth to increase the Internet capacity for customers, and to limit the problems that occur when one of the lines connecting with other countries has a breakdown.

Repair of AAG undersea cable will take at least 3 weeks

VietnamThe Asia-American Gateway (AAG) submarine cable was cut again on April 23 morning. The breakdown is located in SH1 segment, about 300km offshore Vung Tau, which is a turn from the international line via Hong Kong (China) to Ho Chi Minh City. The incident will affect internet bandwidth from Vietnam to international destinations. Viettel, FPT and VNPT have taken some measures to restrict effects on Internet users in Vietnam. Earlier in 2015, the AAG submarine cable was cut on January 5 and it took two weeks to resolve the issue.
