Omantel confirms landing of submarine cable system

APACTimes of Oman — Muscat: Oman Telecommucations Company (Omantel) celebrated the milestone landing of the Asia Africa Europe-1 (AAE-1) submarine cable system in Oman at a ceremony on Monday in the Al Bustan area of Muscat. The third longest submarine cable in the world spanning approximately 25,000 kilometres, the AAE-1 is one of the first unique cable systems to connect 18 countries across Asia, Africa and Europe, all via Oman.

Omantel inks deal for supply of subsea cable system

PakistanTrade Arabia — Omantel, a leading telecom of Oman and Multinet Pakistan, a leading domestic and international carrier in Pakistan, and Xtera Communications, a leader in optical transport solutions, have signed a turnkey supply agreement for the new subsea cable system Silk Route Gateway 1 (SRG-1), a report said.

Telstra expands Asian backbone

AustraliaIT News — Telstra has expanded its Asian network backbone through capacity purchases on existing submarine cables and a new fully-owned overland circuit. A Telstra spokesman said the company was not part of the consortium that built the Bay of Bengal Gateway cable, but has secured capacity on the system that connects Singapore, Malaysia, India and Sri Lanka with Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
