The Star — KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd has signed a construction and maintenance agreement with a unit of TIME dotCom Bhd for a new submarine cable system, Sistem Kabel Rakyat 1 Malaysia (SKR1M). SKR1M will link Peninsular Malaysia with Sabah and Sarawak and it will use the latest 100Gbps wavelength technology with initial capacity of 4 Terabit per second (Tbps) and upgradeable to a minimum of 12.8Tbps. It is a two fibre pair cable system with an estimated total length of 3,500 km.
Digital News Asia — TIME dotCom Bhd posted revenue of RM163.8 million for the three months ended June 30 2015, 5.2% higher than the previous year’s corresponding period of RM155.7 million. [RM1 = US$0.24] In a statement, the company attributed this to strong overall revenue contributions from its data, data centre and voice products, despite lower contributions from global bandwidth sales and non-recurring contracts.
The Edge Markets — KUALA LUMPUR: TIME dotCom Bhd’s net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2015 (2QFY15) jumped seven times to RM315.43 million or 54.97 sen per share, largely on a fair value gain of RM274 million from the disposal of a portion of its quoted equity investments. The telecommunications provider’s net profit in the previous corresponding quarter came in at RM44 million or 7.68 sen per share.
The Star — KUALA LUMPUR: Time dotCom Bhd plans to raise RM1bil under its proposed Sukuk programme 2015-2035 which would be used to expand its fibre footprint and for other operations. RAM Ratings said on Tuesday it had assigned a preliminary rating of AA3/Stable to the Islamic medium-term notes (MTN) programme.
