South Korea launches first Internet of Things network

KoreaBBS — South Korea has launched its first commercial, low-cost Internet of Things (IoT) network aimed at making the country even more connected. The network would allow smart devices to talk to each other via the network. Phone carrier SK Telecom is behind the initiative, which uses technology that will allow it to reach 99% of the country’s population. Aside from South Korea, the Netherlands also has a nationwide IoT network.

SKT plans nationwide LPWA network

SK Telecom’s profit drops 16% on flat revenue

KoreaSouth Korea’s largest operator SK Telecom reported a sharp drop in its net profit last year as revenue fell very slightly (0.2 per cent) due to the elimination of sign-up fees and a reduction in interconnection fees. Its net income last year dropped 15.8 per cent to KRW1.5 trillion ($1.22 billion) on consolidated revenue of KRW17.1 trillion.

SK Telecom, Nokia demo 428Mb/s TD-LTE, partner on NB-IoT

Tsinghua Unigroup seeking investment in SK Hynix, says report

SKT, Ericsson claim 5G network slicing success
