Indonesian edtech startup HarukaEdu raises series A funding from CyberAgent Ventures

HarukaEdu, an Indonesian startup focused on online education, announced a series A investment of an undisclosed amount from Japan-based CyberAgent Ventures earlier today. The company released a statement saying that the new funds will be used to recruit team members necessary for the development of HarukaEdu’s infrastructure, featured courses, and online training.

Japan’s CyberAgent Ventures expands into Thailand with new office in Bangkok

Following last year’s investment in Thailand-based Priceza, CyberAgent Ventures, Inc. has established a new office in Bangkok. The Japanese VC firm has already invested in 23 companies across Southeast Asia and has offices in Tokyo, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Seoul, Taipei, and Jakarta. CyberAgent Ventures’ Bangkok office will be led by Nguyen Manh Dung who is also in-charge of the Vietnam office.

New crowdsourced jobs site helps Japanese mothers get some income without joining the rat race

Japan is the worst developed country for working mothers as horrendous working hours combine with a culture that expects stay-at-home moms to stay home forever. That makes it tough for women with kids to get back into the workplace. Japanese web company CyberAgent (TYO:4751) has launched an online, crowdsourced jobs marketplace that allows these women to pick up small jobs and paid tasks as and when they have time. It’s called Mama and Crowd.
