Hutchison Whampoa To Sell 33% UK Telecom Assets For GBP3.1 Billion

Hong KongHong Kong’s Hutchison Whampoa Limited, which just finished its acquisition of UK carrier O2 and integrated its UK telecom assets, announced that the company has entered into agreements with multiple investors who will acquire stakes totaling 33% in the combined businesses of Three and O2 UK for a total consideration of GBP3.1 billion. According to a report published by Hutchison Whampoa, the investors are Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, GIC of Singapore, Limpart Holdings Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, CDPQ of Quebec, Canada and BTG Pactual of Brazil.

Google in talks with Hutchison 3G for free international roaming

Hong KongGoogle is reportedly in talks with Hong Kong-based conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa, the owner of the international wireless carrier 3, to offer free international roaming for its users in the US wherever there is a 3 network, reports the Beijing News. Hutchison Whampoa has been considering eliminating the long existing international roaming fees for some time while Google said previously that it will establish a global network charging the same fee for phone use and text messages services wherever users are.
