GPS World — A new white paper outlines plans for the Chinese BeiDou constellation, including its plans for international cooperation and exchanges. The State Council Information Office of the People’s Republic of China published the white paper, which is titled “China’s BeiDou Navigation Satellite System,” in June.
Times of India — SINGAPORE/BEIJING: Thousands of apps running code built by Chinese internet giant Baidu have collected and transmitted users’ personal information to the company, much of it easily intercepted, researchers say. The apps have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times. The researchers at Canada-based Citizen Lab said they found the problems in an Android software development kit developed by Baidu.
Shanghai Daily — CHINA North Industries Group Corp (Norinco Group) and e-commerce giant Alibaba have set up a joint venture to provide location-based services using China’s Beidou navigation satellite system. The Shanghai-based firm has 2 billion yuan (US$313 million) in registered capital, with the two companies both holding a 50 percent share, according to Norinco Group.
