Japan’s DeNA built its empire from games for feature phones and desktop PCs, but its legacy in leisure isn’t stopping it from tackling more serious matters. The company announced today it has formed the aptly named DeNA Life Science Inc, a wholly-owned company subsidiary specializing in health care.

2C2P, a Bangkok-based online payment processing company, has secured an undisclosed amount of funding from GMO Global Payment Fund, a sister company of GMO Payment Gateway, which also invested US$500,000 into the startup late last year. This investment aligns with the GMO Payment Gateway’s latest move to partner 2C2P as it expands into Thailand. As June 4th approaches, Google services in China grind to a halt

Microsoft Claims WeChat Shuts Down Xiaobing Accounts

Global software giant Microsoft Corp claimed its artificial intelligence chatting robot, Xiaobing, has been blocked by WeChat without prior notice, a move described by the American company as a “brutal murder”. The shutdown of Xiaobing accounts came just six days after Microsoft announced that it had reached an exclusive partnership agreement with WeChat for the Siri-like service that allowed WeChat users access to a social assistant.

Far EasTone joins 4G broadband competition

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Following in the footstep of Chunghwa Telecom (中華電信), Far EasTone Telecom (遠傳電信) announced its launch of 4G broadband service yesterday, while Taiwan Mobile (台灣大哥大) is expected to roll out the service today. Chunghwa Telecom launched the 4G service on May 29, one month earlier than market expectations, making it the first telecom company to launch the service in Taiwan. Sources say the download speed for 4G is four to seven times faster than 3G, and fast media experience will be the main attraction of 4G broadband.


Vice president of ITRI honored with Fellow membership of SID

SingTel, Stanchart launch mobile money service

SINGAPORE: Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) and Standard Chartered (StanChart) have jumped on the mobile money bandwagon on Tuesday (June 3) with a joint service that lets customers pay friends and merchants with funds stored on their phones via an app. Called Dash, the service will allow smartphone users to make payments at around 20,000 acceptance points in Singapore by the end of this year, including retail outlets, convenience stores and taxis.
